I've been watching some YouTube crafting videos to get some ideas and to give me a bit of a jumpstart. I seem to have taken a step backwards though and seem to find it difficult to do some of the bits I found easy to do before! Of course, that's part of the more you do something the easier you find it! I've been watching how to make some mini-albums again and how to do a pamphlet stitch (?). I thought I'd give it a go with a card (that I'd had printed of my photograph) as the cover.
I don't think it turned out too badly. The pamphlet stitch was really easy. I've got to get a bit more creative about the pages I put inside. It's a pretty small card; I do have bigger ones so will try again with those. I'd like to make a mini sketching nature journal.
I also picked up the cross stitch again. I haven't done a lot of it (still fighting that guilt thing) but it's coming along!
I get a little frustrated with the cross stitching as - although I love to do it - I'm finding it more difficult to see the holes on a dull day. I've just got to give in and use the lamp and magnifier I have by my chair. It's just a sign of getting older, I think.

Firstly, most of the wellbeing gurus insist that creative time is a kind of work, something that restores you mind/body/soul.... so it makes sense not to leave it until you are too tired to bother!
ReplyDeleteSecondly, my cheap rechargeable desk lamp, and relatively cheap table magnifying glass made all the difference to cross stitching. J use the desk lamp all the time, everywhere.
So yes! Go make some more of those gorgeous little books! That cover picture is amazing! What interesting papers!
I hadn't thought of it that way.
DeleteI have been using the lamp and magnifier (that is attached to the lamp). It definitely helps, just takes a bit of getting used to. It's been a while since I'm done any cross stitching and I do miss it. I find that once I get into a rhythm it gets easier to do.
Oh I understand that feeling! I try to do a little bit of this and a little bit of that. Less screen time too. Also, speaking of not seeing....I was going to ask you, but could you make the text a bit bigger on your posts....eek...my eyes aren't what they were - whatever stage of aging that is....
ReplyDeleteI'll have to see if I can work out how to do that! It is a bit small...
DeleteI love your idea for a mini-album - the front cover is superb.
ReplyDeleteThanks - the cover is a notecard I made of one of my photos.
DeleteThe notecard cover is lovely! The mini album is a great idea, too. You could use time to craft as a reward for doing housework type of things.
ReplyDeleteAs for enlarging the text, I read your blog on my laptop and I enlarge the text by zooming out to increase the magnification.
Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI still haven't got around to working out how to enlarge it a bit lol. Thanks for the tip!
I haven't done any cross stitch in absolutely ages. It'll be lovely watching your little project progress
ReplyDeleteI keep forgetting to post the finish. I am struggling with the eyes, but light is helping.
