March Declutter Totals

It's April! Hopefully the weather will even out a bit. It's been a funny ol' day today. It started with barely above freezing temperatures and this afternoon/evening the tornado sirens went off three times!!! It's been a rollercoaster of weather lately. Usually, in April things even out a little bit. I am certainly looking forward to seeing a bit more colour around in nature.

On to the decluttering. I meant to post these yesterday, but I had an Asylum Lake meeting, and it went on a bit. By the time I got home I was too tired.

The total actually turned out - not deliberately - to be the same as January and February. 80 items. There were two large bags and two boxes of things that husband took off to the charity shop yesterday.

Books 17

Magazines 12

Clothes 2

Misc. 38

Crafting 11

I struggled a bit, but things are leaving. Progress is progress. I'll be continuing on this month. How is your decluttering coming along?

Photo - some flowers I dried out. I'm going to try taking some camera photos with them. These were the flowers I got to remind me of Mum on English Mother's Day

Your decluttering totals exceed mine by... 80 items!

    1. You've been so busy with your dad's flat. It takes energy and sometimes you need a break after something like that! I know that I did after Mum's and Jane's

  2. The dried roses are beautiful! Well done on the decluttering! 80 items is very impressive. I didn't do well at all. I need to try harder in April.

    1. Thank you.
I keep plodding along. I find myself trying to think of things to declutter and that keeps me going! I should probably do it faster, but slow and steady is working for now!

  3. Your roses have dried well, the colours are still bright. I'm working at sorting my garden stuff, I hoard too much outside.

    1. I was really surprised how well they turned out.
I still need to do the garden clean up. Sigh

  5. Nothing but a kitchen drawer. I had thought with everything out of my lower cupboards I might find more to purge, but decided to keep. I had purged a lot last summer. April is a fresh start, figuratively and literally.

    1. I'm still struggling, but I'm slowly getting rid of a few bits.

  6. I LOVE a good declutter and well done to you. I just did The Great Re-Declutter of 2026 where I went through each catergory that I own and that was fun. Back in 2016 I did The Great Declutter of 2016 and 90 percent of my stuff went out the door. It was delightful.

I'm a huge fan of folks saying goodbye to stuff no longer of value.

    Happy Decluttering. Cheers, Ivy.

    1. Wow that's really good! Sometimes I think it would be easier to just pack up everything and start again but then I think of the money and the waste and I just can't do it. I'm doing a bit at a time and hopefully I'll get there in the end!

    2. That is a topic that I've talked about before and will circle back to because there is that cost thing too. I get that. For sure. But also ... if I'm really, really not going to use it, then I give it to a new home that can. Because even at the money spent, if the item is no longer of use then that item for me, is in the way. Holding life back vs the freshness and freedom that can come from letting go.

Again though, this is a very, very good topic. I could write about it for hours.
