Productive Days

I certainly feel a bit more productive lately. The heat plods on but I'm trying not to let it stop me from getting things done. I overheat at some points (think heat and menopause lol) but I just sit for a while in front of the fan until things regulate again lol. The main rooms are coming along nicely. It's about time to tackle some of the knick-knacks that are displayed. I think I'm ready to let some go. I'm telling myself that it's better to pass them on to someone else who will enjoy them instead of them cluttering up my house and annoying me (which they are starting to do). I won't be getting rid of everything, but I will be thinning out. The memories aren't in objects. At least that's what I'm trying to remind myself.

I don't think I mentioned this before, but the ceilings in my kitchen really needing cleaning. I don't cook with a lot of grease, but they still seem to get grease on them! I usually get up and down on the ladder, pull my back as I bend backwards to scrub and just end up making a horrible mess. I decided to see if there was a better way. I ended up ordering a thing on Amazon, sort of a mop for ceilings and walls. Very light and easy to use. It arrived on Sunday, and I gave it a go on Monday. I absolutely love it! I should have got one ages ago! It was less than $20 (I hesitated spending that much on something for the ceiling) but well worth every penny. It will make cleaning the kitchen ceiling and walls really easy and something that I won't hesitate to do on a more regular basis.

I've got a list for tomorrow, one of the items is sorting out the large bookshelf by my chair. There is room on it, but the books are sitting rather haphazardly and need a bit of reorgnasing. Hopefully it will make things look a bit tidier! I want to get as much done as possible as Thursday is supposed to be (FINALLY!) a cool day so I want to use it to get up in the craft room, do a bit of sorting and (maybe) a bit of crafting!

Bit of colour this morning over Asylum Lake.

  1. Sounds like you made a good investment with those $20! Proper cleaning tools are very essential. You are doing great with getting things accomplished. Well done! I hope you can reward yourself with some crafting time on Thursday. :)

    1. Thanks. It didn't go quite as planned (when does it?) but I did do a little bit.

  2. I love the idea of a ceiling mop. Can you remember the brand.

    1. It's a funny off brand thing. Ronsung wall cleaner. It's 17.99 in US but apparently close to 30 pound in England! At least on Amazon. Yikes

  3. I shall investigate the ceiling mop!
A whole room for crafting - what a thought.

    1. Well, it's a room. A really messy crowded room. It did use to be daughter's small bedroom. Sigh

  4. I have never missed any of the clutter I have passed on, infact I feel better without it, I still have stuff, just not so much.

    1. I do find once I've let go of things I don't miss them, but I still find the letting go really tough. I'm still plodding along and making progress though so I'll count that as a win!

  5. Your post reminded me that I really should clean my kitchen ceiling lights and, actually, everything else in my kitchen/house. Too depressing!

    1. I definitely need to do better with ceilings and walls and such. I didn't notice how grimy things are until I started cleaning them!

  6. As you reminded me, no matter how small the step forward, it's still a step. Could you share a link to the ceiling washer? It may not be available in the UK, but there may be an equivalent and our bathroom ceiling is a disgrace.

    1. I got it on Amazon. It was a Ronsung Wall Cleaner Triangle Mop. I looked on Amazon UK and it is available but it's a lot more than what I paid for it! It definitely did the trick though!

  7. Inspired by your wall and ceiling cleaning! If I have a mop like yours I’ll give it a go. Which mop did you buy? Fellow expat here :)

    1. Hello! It's always nice to meet a fellow Brit abroad.
I bought a Ronsung (weird offbrand thing) Wall Cleaner Triangle Mop from Amazon. It really was worth the money. I wish I'd bought one years ago. Maybe the ceiling wouldn't have been as bad as it was lol
