Husband and I managed to get out for a beach walk today. The weather was unseasonably warm, but there was a slight breeze at the lakeshore which made things feel a little better. It wasn't a long walk, just getting out for a bit. It's been a while since we've been to the lakeshore - since early August! I can't believe it's been that long. There are certainly signs that the summer season is over. There are already barriers in place on the beaches to stop the sand from drifting too much.
It certainly seems much to early to see them, but it is October already!
We were pleased to see that work is going to be done on one of the lighthouses at Muskegon. For years it has been in need of repairing. It looks as though it is going to happen!
Hard to see, but the rest of the walkway up to the lighthouse is blocked off and a protective cover has been put over scaffolding at the bottom of the lighthouse. I'm not sure how long it is going to take, but it's about time!
A Little Moan - it's my own fault but last Saturday when I volunteered, I did not wear a long sleeve shirt. Apparently, I must have got into something as a couple of days after that my arms started itching, blistering up and I've been itching on my arms and around my neck ever since. Sigh. I think it was Poison Ivy, Poison Oak or Poison Sumac. Not sure which. It just itches like crazy despite anti itch cream. My arms look a mess. I'm not sure how long it will last. I know it's not an illness as the rash is only on my arms. I just itch like crazy - GRRRRR!
Moan over. There are worse things.
I did start a little cross stitch this afternoon, to keep my hands busy and to stop me itching. It's only a little kit I picked up while in England.

Apple cider vinegar patted on the itchy parts will help dry it up and stop the itching. Yes, it will sting, but the sting will be a pleasant change from the itch. And you smell like a salad. Over the counter antihistamines like Benadryl. will also help quiet the itch. It does tend to make one drowsy so be careful when you take it. Drowsy from it helps you sleep through the itch, however.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the tips! I took the Benadryl before bedtime and it did help me sleep for a little bit without itching!
DeleteThat was a lovely walk.
ReplyDeleteI guess you've tried calamine, witch hazel, anti-histamines, cool water, fan, ice, walking around and shouting, banging your head, punching pillows...
I've been doing a lot of the last lol. I have never been so itchy!
DeleteThe itching sounds nasty - I hope it soon calms down. Doing some cross-stitch should keep your fingers busy.
ReplyDeleteIt is horrible! There seems no end in sight!
DeleteCalamine lotion is good to stop itching and bathing with a solution of bicarbonate of soda (both are remedies I used when my children had chicken pox.

Thank you so much! The Calamine Lotion helped for a little while. I just end up looking a little pink lol.
DeleteThat itch must be driving you crazy. Hope it's starting to calm down. Nothing works on me to stop an itchy rash so I'm no good at suggesting anything.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the sympathy. Nothing seems to help for long. Sigh. I'll wear long sleeves next time!
Deletecute lighthouse and I love the fox cross stitch kit. I took some cross stitch away we us when I went on vacation, but read instead!!!
ReplyDeleteI always like to read when I go away. I did used to take stitching with me and never got it out so now just leave it home!
DeleteI'm so sorry you are itching after your day of volunteering. I was wondering if some aloe vera gel might help with the itching? Maybe alternate it with calamine lotion?
ReplyDeleteThe cross stitch looks cute!
Glad the light house is being renovated.
Oh I might have to try that! At this point, I'll try anything lol
