Apologies to the blogs I posted on and left Anonymous comments! Apparently, I was logged out of my account when I made them. Sigh.
We did finally put up the tree today. We have just decorated it with ornaments that mother-in-law made. I'll be sharing a few photos over the next couple posts. She was such a talented woman. She once said that the only thing (like it was insignificant) that she was good at was cooking. She WAS a wonderful cook, but we reminded her that it wasn't only that which she was good at. She was such a talented crafter - she could sew, knit, crochet, cross stitch, bead, the list was endless! We're missing her, but putting up the tree with her creations is a way of honouring her.
I did go for a walk this morning. It was pretty cold out and I didn't go for long, but a little walk is better than no walk! Husband and I then went out for a bit to do some shopping. Nobody feels much like baking for Christmas, so we splurged at the Amish shop and bought some pies, cookies and lots of cheese to have with crackers. A couple of doughnuts landed in the basket too!
When I got home, I did a little random cleaning up, bits and pieces that should have been in other places. It felt good to clean up. A long way to go and lots of sorting in the new year, but I'm pleased with what I did today.
How was your Saturday?

Those felt birds are gorgeous - your MiL certainly was talented
ReplyDeleteShe definitely was!
DeleteI love your homemade decorations, a perfect way to enhance your tree and so many memories. We had a quiet day at home and have a friend in to watch the final of Strickly, plus a couple glasses of wine.
ReplyDeleteSounds relaxing.
DeleteI think it makes a good tribute to her
Your ornaments are delightful, especially the birds with such lovely details. Sorrow and pleasure mixed together.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely
DeleteThose decorations are so beautiful, they will be treasured for generations I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteShe was so very talented
DeleteI like her homemade ornaments. Especially the birds. On this Saturday, I was able to make some Christmas candy. It was nice to be able to do what I enjoy doing for myself. (Al did bring me things...pour the hot candy out of pan).
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you're still able to do the things you enjoy. Al sounds like a treasure of a husband
DeleteI love those birds your MIL made! And I remember the pair of red booties like socks she knitted for you. I think that decorating the tree with the ornaments she made is a lovely way to remember her.
ReplyDeleteMy Saturday was busy with the almsgiving and cleaning up afterwards. I was so tired! I fell asleep on the sofa for a couple of hours and later, my back was hurting so much that I took a Tylenol and applied some arthritis cream that my doctor had prescribed.
She made us so many things! I still have the slipper/socks she made. They are very comfortable.
DeleteI hope all went well with almsgiving. Hopefully, you posted about it - I'm off to look!
