Whenever I have things on my mind I seem to struggle with sleep. This morning, I woke up at 4.03am. It must have been just after husband got up. I sat up and looked at the clock. Then I got to thinking about things and well, that was it. No more sleep. I didn't get up as husband and son have their routines and I don't like to disturb them as I hate it when someone disturbs my morning routine. I laid in bed, finally ended up putting on a YouTube video and fell asleep somewhere around 5.30am when son left for work. I dozed on and off a little until the alarm went off at 6.30am and I got up.
I hadn't gone to bed until late as I was trying to watch a local city meeting to find out the latest on the rezoning of land near Asylum Lake (the place where I walk). I ended up giving up at 11.20pm when they still hadn't got to the item on the agenda. When I did get to bed husband was coughing, struggling to sleep and then got up to go to the loo. I think it was close to midnight when I did finally get to sleep.
All the above is a precursor - not an excuse perse - to why I fell asleep as soon as I sat down this afternoon. Sigh. I don't usually nap in the daytime and if I try to sleep I can't.
I did get a haircut today - another long story. I was pretty sure I had a haircut coming up soon, but I couldn't find the appointment anywhere on my phone. Usually when I make an appointment, they immediately send a text. I had a string of text appointments but nothing after my last appointment (back just after MIL died). I felt like an idiot, but I messaged my hairdresser, and she looked and realised we hadn't made one! She fit me in today. Thankfully. It was growing quite long. I didn't have much off - only an inch - but I feel better for it.
I did not get much extra done. Only one drawer of socks. I have several huge fluffy sock pairs and quite a few others. I sorted through the drawer, organised it a bit, got rid of some rubbish that was lingering and picked out six pairs of socks that can be gone. So, not a lot of sorting done, but it's a start.
Things That Made Me Smile
It was a foggy morning by Asylum Lake. Really peaceful. I think I only saw three people the whole time I was there. The beavers were out and about trying to keep the water open.
A nice cup-a-soup. This is Broccoli and Cheddar. Quite nice. Good for warming up after my walk.

You were waking up around the time I usually go to sleep! LOL. Lovely picture of the lake and surrounding area. It's definitely winter out there. I also like your mug - at first, I thought it was a container of m & m's! LOL.
ReplyDeleteGlad you were able to get your haircut. And you got started on the decluttering and organizing by sorting through your sock drawer. It's a start and maybe, tomorrow, you can do another drawer or two. :)
I got the mug from my Mum. It came with a big chocolate easter egg in it lol. It always reminds me of her
DeleteI'm starting with the decluttering though it seems to be slow going!
That top photograph would make a tricky jigsaw...
ReplyDeleteI don't think I'd like to try it!
DeleteMyself and a friend are struggling with sleeping at the moment. We were just talking about it on Sunday when we had our weekly catch up phone call. You've motivated me to sort my sock drawer this morning. Nobody need as many pairs as I own.
ReplyDeleteI seem to be either wanting to sleep all the time or waking up all the time. No happy medium.
DeleteI have a lot of socks - really ultra fluffy ones, fluffy ones, normal ones, thin ones. I still have a lot of them despite sorting them out!
Sleep is such a tease sometimes. At the moment I seem to be sleeping well one night and poorly the next - no reason for it.
ReplyDeleteYour photograph is stunning - the lake, not the mug, lol!
That's exactly how I am!
DeleteOne of my sons jobs is covering and broadcasting planning meetings. He will get them bookmarked to the agenda after the live meeting. Maybe you can find the agenda item later and hear the coverage of the lake issue.
ReplyDeleteGood idea!
DeleteI did find out the outcome. It was just another meeting scheduled. That one will be a long one - it's expected to go on until early hours of the morning!
we bought a few cup-a-soup's back when we were in the UK last. I am like you with your sleep. Most days I am okay, but occasionally just like you, where once awake I have a hard job getting back to sleep. I had my hair cut yesterday as well.
ReplyDeleteIt's my favourite winter drink. After coming in from a walk it's lovely to be able to warm up with a cup-a-soup.
DeleteI feel better for the haircut - hope you do too!
I watch YouTube when I struggle with sleeping or falling back to sleep too. It's usually one of those ASMR videos. If you don't know what it is, I didn't either, my daughter a mental health professional, told me about them. I watch one about brushing hair - like 3 minutes I'm sleeping. Your picture - I can almost feel the wet, chilly air on my face.
ReplyDeleteI did have to look that up to see what they are! That's interesting. I just stuck on something random on my feed (a longish one) and I was out lol.
