It was lovely and sunny today and ended up fairly warm. Husband and I went for a walk at Warren Dunes State Park. There is a lovely trail through a marshy bog bit and along through the woods. It's a fairly easy trail, something that husband could do to build up the walking stamina again. As we walked through the bog bit we could hear lots of birds singing and chirping. We watched as an Eastern Towhee sat atop a branch and sang out his heart. I did get some photos but yes - you've guessed it - I've not got to them yet! We also saw lots of little Golden-crowned Kinglets flitting through the trees.
It was lovely and quiet out. We saw two other couples and a maybe two joggers but that was it. I think that's why we like to go early on a Sunday morning.
I did take quite a few phone photos
There are lots of daffodils in the woods. These dot the landscape where the old building of the New First Church Camp used to stand for many years. It's always interesting to see them pop up year after year without any human intervention.
After our walk through the woods, we headed further into the state park and down along the shores of Lake Michigan.
The snow fences are still up but I'm sure they will come down soon
We had some fun looking along the shoreline for VPS (Very Pretty Stones). There are lots of people who walk the shores looking for all kinds of rocks (as they are called here). We have no clue what we are looking for so just look for the ones we think are unique or different.

Some of these photographs are making me itch to get a pencil and paper and draw...
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely compliment. I am going to take a sketchbook and pencils when we go camping. I'm hoping to do more nature journalling and then perhaps I shall be more comfortable with it.
DeleteAs always your photos are beautiful, love your favourite beach tree, I love looking at pebbles on the beach, locally we don't have any sand, so loads of pebbles to chose from, we have a lot of flint.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteThere are some beaches here that have lots of stones, some just have lots of golden sand. I like the ones that have some character! Our state is surrounded by lakes so there isn't the tidal activity that I'm used to, but there are still places that can be wild
What a lovely walk! I really enjoyed seeing your photos. And those daffodils! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteMy weekend was good, thank you. I attended a friend's daughter's engagement party on Saturday, had a grocery delivery and did some cooking on Sunday. Sewed a bit on my quilt top, too. :)
Sounds as though you had a good weekend.
DeleteThat looks amazing! I love when you can see little clumps of flowers in the woods. Your perspective on the clouds and trees and beach, snow fence and clouds are so cool. We do call them rocks. I like to look for them too.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! It's always good to be outside
DeleteI'd be tempted to wear either of those pretty stones as a pendant. You can buy wire cages to put them in. I'd be tempted to use them as cabochons and head around them. Have a lovely Easter. X
ReplyDeleteI was thinking of trying to polish some. We shall see! Hope you have a lovely Easter too!
DeleteVarnish would give them a nice shine.
DeleteReally good that your hubby is building his walking back up. Love the shot where you pointed up at the trees. Also the trails. Really well done. I was able to get outside yesterday and shoot and it was soooo nice to be outside with the camera. Happy Walking. Happy Shooting. Cheers, Ivy.
