Sunday Adventure

It was such a beautiful day yesterday. A lovely burst of almost summer-like weather. The sun was shining brightly and the temperature reached 76F/24C!!!! We decided to go for a walk on the beach at Michigan City, Indiana and then down to Indiana Dunes National Park. I really like visiting there. There were a lot of people walking the trails, but we found one that wasn't too bad. It was really lovely being outside.

The trees are still mostly bare, but you can see the beginnings of leaves and some of the blossom is now blooming. There weren't too many birds around, but we could hear the spring peepers (frogs) making lots of noise. There were a few early ground flowers if you looked closely.

Later, when we were home, middle son and his girlfriend stopped by. They had gone with our other son (the older one who lives with us) to a Comic Con that was in town. They stayed for a little while before heading back to their respective houses. All-in-all it was a pretty good day.

Some phone photos from our adventure

They are starting to get the beaches ready for the summer season. This means evening out the sand.

This made me smile today (105). Somebody had left their mark in the sand!

Lovely sunny skies!

Yup, Rainy Sunday.

It was dull and rainy when I woke this morning. As I write this at ten o'clock at night it is still raining. We went for a drive and there was a tiny break in the rain when we walked along the pier to the lighthouse. I was amazed to see the fishermen out. I suppose I shouldn't be all that surprised when there was one out last week in the windy snow!

It's really been quite the uneventful day. I got a bit more sorting done when I got back. Not much, but any little progress is, well, progress. Tomorrow I'll get back to it. This week I want to get all the gifts I have wrapped, see what needs to be still got. I need to get some tidying up done, things are sitting around that need to be put away before I leave. We'll see how far I get.

The really quick walk today was interesting. We went to South Haven. It was rainy when we got there.

Through the car window

The weather broke for just a little bit that we were able to get out for a walk. The beach is already changing. Where the sand was once flat there is about a five foot 'cliff' as you walk along. Lake Michigan always surprises me. There are no tides, but during Autumn and Winter, the beach is let go wild and there are such changes. It's this time of year that I like to visit most.

A few more phone photos

I loved the patterns in the sand!

Sunday Adventures

We had a nice walk today. It was bright and sunny and not too cold. We renewed our pass to the metroparks on the other side of the state and had a nice walk around the nature centre. We got there early so there weren't too many people around at first. Later on it got a bit busier, but it was nice to be out on the trails to walk. There were a few spots of ice, but nothing we couldn't walk around.

Not too much growing but there was a lot of little birds around. I'll post some photos when I sort them out. Husband likes to go here as the birds land on your hand and take peanuts and seeds from you. Rather fun.

There were a few Sandhill Cranes around. They are year long residents at the park, though not many of them usually stay in our state for winter. I suppose it's because they have plentiful food. People aren't supposed to feed the cranes - there are signs telling you not to - as they become aggressive. They are fun to watch though. They aren't at all scared of people.

I have made myself a list of things I want to get accomplished this week. I am hoping that seeing it in print will give me the motivation needed. There are things I really need to get done around the house.
