I had a plan of attack for today, but things rarely work out the way they are supposed to! It was beautiful when I got up this morning. I went out for a walk, dropped a few bits off at the post office and headed home.
Middle son called, chatted, chatted some more. I got a few bits done. He called back saying his power was out. He had to work (he works from home since he moved back) and could he come over to work and to do his washing. Certainly. Only we have no table. The table was put out to be picked up and husband hasn't unloaded the other one yet. We had a small portable table which son set up and was going to work from. Power company informs him that the power has been restored so he decides to head home. I said I'd finish his wash, and he could pick it up after work. He gets home to find out he has power but no internet! Back to our house he comes and sets up to work.
Thankfully, now he only lives 10 minutes away from us.
Our other son didn't come home as planned as he was on overtime too! I'm probably going to have a couple of grumpy, tired men for the next few weeks!
I've set up another plan of attack tomorrow! Hopefully son's internet will be back working otherwise he will be back to work here again tomorrow.
Photo for today - a nice surprise while I was out walking. There have been a couple of Sandhill Cranes at Asylum Lake. I saw one nesting, sitting oh so patiently. This morning, I spotted a little Colt with them! How lovely!
Good photo - tiny baby! Wonder why it's called a 'colt'?
ReplyDeleteI did google it and it said because of their long, strong legs
DeleteThey are lovely little things and their legs certainly remind me of a foal. They are quite gangly too and not well-balanced at first.
It tires me out when plans change every give minutes!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a big fan of it lol
DeleteYou know what they say about the best laid plans of mice and men and women, too, I guess! LOL. I, too, had made a plan for today and didn't get much of it accomplished! But, there is always tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteThat baby Sandhill crane colt is so cute! Hope it grows up without any problems with predators, etc.
I'm hoping people will leave it alone or dogs won't attack it. Dogs are supposed to be on leashes, but not everyone pays attention.
DeletePower cuts have been a real nuisance across the globe haven't they. Is the young bird a colt or have I missed something
ReplyDeleteThe baby Sandhill Crane is called a colt. I googled it (as Sue asked why it was called that) and Google says it is because of its long, strong legs.
DeleteThe cranes are beautiful and the colt looks so tiny. Lovely photograph!
ReplyDeleteThey are lovely birds. Their call reminds me of what I imagine a prehistoric bird would sound like.
