Agh

What a title! After weeks of not being able to sleep it seems now all I want to do is sleep. Ah the joys of menopause. I've actually been napping in the afternoon. Not intentionally, I might add. I sit down in my chair and the next thing I know I'm asleep! Although I've been walking up at night (par for the course) I have been managing to fall asleep again right up until my alarm!

It's been really warm the last few days. So warm all the windows have been open. I'm not quite ready for it. It won't be sticking around. The temps are due to drop on Monday by a big 40f. Today the high has been 82F/28C. On Monday the high will be 39F/4C lol. Then it's supposed to climb up to about normal for this time of year. It has been nice to be able to get out for a walk without having to warm up the car or dress in hats, scarves and long undies. I like springtime though and I really want that type of weather before summer hits.

It was nice to see a tree that already had leaves! I expect the warm weather is pushing things to grow.

I saw this lovely painted stone while out walking the other day. Such a talented person made this. I love seeing them. They make me smile!

Hope everyone is having a good week!

Sort of Productive Day

I am going to chalk this day up as a sort-of productive day. I must admit to getting a little distracted - by a good book, and then by photography, but I did manage to get most of what I wanted to do done.

The morning didn't start off too well. Husband hit a deer on the way to work and seriously damaged the front end of his van. Thankfully he was okay. Sadly, the poor deer was not. Husband goes to work really early in the morning when it is still dark and works out in a small town in the countryside. There was no avoiding the deer as it just ran out in front of him. The plus side is that we don't have to pay for repairs as it is a work van. He has a different van for now.

I went for a walk. It was surprisingly (and for the first time in a while!) above freezing while I was out walking. The bad thing is that the snow is melting and everything is becoming really slippery. It's raining now and will probably change over to freezing rain and then snow tomorrow. I imagine things are going to be a right old mess. I have plans to stay indoors tomorrow. It is really slippery in our driveway and garden. Yuck.

I did all my household chores, picked up a couple of things at the shops (that the other shop didn't have yesterday). I avoided the bookshop (go me!). I worked on sorting through some photos. I posted, and have scheduled several posts, on my photography blog for my year-long project. I feel as though I may be catching up!

I am really pleased with some of the photos I took over the weekend. They look as if they are taken in some other world. I love the mounds and fluffy snow rather like whipped cream. This one was taken just before sunset.

On another note, I did actually do a little bit of crafting today too! It's been a while. So, today, my phone photo - Things That Makes Me Smile is a photo of my crafting work in progress.

June Already!

I can't believe it's already June! Seems like not too long ago there was still snow on the ground and I was complaining about the long winter. The last few days it's been too hot and I've had to bite my tongue not to complain about the heat. It's cooled down a little today and it's nice to be able to turn the window air conditioner off and open the windows to let some fresh air in. There is a cool breeze in the air today. It didn't stop people being out and about when we went out for a walk.

It's going to be a lazy day today. I'm going to Skype with my Mum and spend the day either crafting or sorting things out. I want to get a few more things organised before I leave for my holiday with Mum. I can't believe there's only a few weeks before I leave! I can't wait.

Despite the heat the last few days I have been going for a walk. I was sad to see that the swans are down to only two babies. There were three earlier in the week and four when they were first born.

I suppose that's how nature is though. I wish I could get a little closer to them but they are sticking to the outer edges of Asylum Lake.

I hope everyone has a good weekend!

Saturday

Hubby and I were going to try to go for a little walk this morning, but I've woken up (at a fairly decent time) and it is raining! Yesterday was the same and quite chilly. I ended up feeling not too good last night - hot and cold again. I'm not sure if it was just the weather or something else. I don't feel too bad this morning so maybe it was just the sudden change in temp (that certainly doesn't help). Instead of a walk I suppose we'll do Plan B and go look for some flowers. I want something cheery in the garden to maybe attract more butterflies and birds.

I was also sad to read this morning that Sue's husband Col (from The Cottage at the End of a Lane) had passed away. I remember he got cancer around the same time as Mum. I think reading other blogs we sometimes feel as though they are friends we're reading about. I think I connected with Sue's blog as she's from Suffolk and when she and Col lived in Ipswich in their bungalow they were just round the corner from Mum. My thoughts are certainly with her and her family today.

I'll be Skyping Mum later. It's Mother's Day here in the US tomorrow. I usually send Mum a card for both but have to admit I haven't got around to it (haven't been feeling up to it - the making or getting to post office). I did send her a card and presents for Mother's Day in March so I shall just wish her a Happy Mother's Day and let her know I'll be thinking about her. It is only seven weeks until I visit!

I'll leave today with some photos of Spring I took earlier in the week when the sun was shining!

Hope everyone has an enjoyable Saturday.
