Too Hot Saturday

Yuck. It's very hot and humid today. We're under a heat advisory. Our Saturday walk this morning was early and fairly short. We made sure to take water with us and we were glad of it! Phone photo below.

I Skyped with Mum. We connected really quickly. Poor Mum got a sunburn. She went out yesterday to the seaside with my sister and though she wore sun cream she still got burned on her face! She said it was quite windy down by the sea so I'm sure that was part of it. Also she hasn't spent as much time outside this year as she usually does.

This afternoon I did some more crafting. I have been using up a pack of cards and envelopes that I must have picked up at a sale or something to make some more albums. They are smaller than the ones I originally used to make the last album but it gives me the chance to use up some smaller pieces of paper too. I am really enjoying making these and using up some supplies. This is one of the ones I made.

I have had this paper hanging around forever. I think I'm going to use this one as some sort of nature journal. I think the paper works really well for that.

I hope everyone has a good weekend. May the sun shine and it be nice out but not too hot! Stay safe.

Start of a New Week

I'm not looking forward to this week, at least not the beginning of the week. I have a dentist appointment tomorrow and I'm really stressed about it. I don't just get nervous, I get really, really nervous and stressed - my stomach hurts, I have nightmares and when I start to think about it I find my breath catching in my throat. My friend asked if I'd like to just be knocked out - yes please, wake me up when it's done. On the plus side the temp is (just) above freezing so the roads will all be cleared off and I won't have to stress about driving in the snow as well as the dentist. I'm such a chicken.

Anyway today I'm trying to keep myself busy. I have FINALLY finished my first stitching of the year. I'm so pleased with it. I have to wash it and frame it but the stitching part is done.

I've pulled out another UFO as my next finish.

It's a Margaret Sherry design that came with a calendar years ago. So many years I can't even remember! I had a copy of the pattern but it was pretty unreadable so I had to hunt up the original. Then I found out the baggie full of floss I'd been keeping with the pattern wasn't actually the floss needed for the pattern. I have no clue what happened to the floss or what pattern the baggie of floss I've held on to actually belongs to.

I'm glad I actually organised all my floss last year - despite the time it took! - as finding floss needed for the pattern wasn't tough at all. A lot better than going out and buying more.

I did work on a couple of pages for my albums/journals too.

Dinner is already made - chili in the slow cooker. Middle son is supposed to be coming up today. He stayed home yesterday as the weather was bad. Freezing rain this time.

Crafty Finishes

I just wanted to share a couple of mini-album projects I've finished. These are the blank books that I have to fill. I can't stop making them. They are fun and easy projects and a great way to use up leftovers. Also, if I ever do get organised with my photos I'll have something to put them in. I am thinking I might give a couple as gifts with photos or sayings people will like.

For a while, when I first started making mini-albums I was using cereal boxes for covers. I have since bought chipboard (fairly cheap) and I like how it works a lot better. The covers are certainly more sturdy!

I really enjoy working with this darker paper. I think I've been watching too much Bitten!

And then, because I wanted something a little lighter

Hopefully my next crafty makes will be those Unity Stamps I showed on my Wednesday post!

Monday rolling round again. I can't wait for the weather to warm up so we can go outside and explore on the weekends. I think we are all going a little crazy but I certainly don't want to walk around while it's freezing cold and snowy. It is actually supposed to get above freezing this week! I keep telling myself that we are almost at the end of January and the days will be a little longer and maybe the temperatures will go up just a little bit. It seems like I'm wishing the days away lol.

Been doing some more crafting. I keep getting pulled back to making mini albums and can't seem to stop! I'm definitely not an expert in them and, at some point, I will have to actually use them, but I am enjoying making them.

This one is a cute little one made out of one page of 12 x 12 and extra for the cover. It's a cute little thing. I was thinking of either using it for small pictures of maybe a book of sayings I like.

I used ideas from a couple of videos I saw on Youtube. 12 x 12 mini album is one of the videos I watched.

I really enjoyed this one. I'll change a few things next time but it worked out well and I liked the way the pages are big enough for small photos.  This was from here

I do HAVE to finish at least one card though so I'm off to try colouring some more.
