WOYWW March 30th

It's Wednesday again and time for What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday with Julia over at The Stamping Ground.  I can't believe it's the end of March already! Spring is beginning to rear its lovely head here - at long last! The days ARE getting longer and the temperatures are SLOWLY warming up. Hopefully all that snow is behind us though I'm not counting on it!

Well, here's my desk this week

Yup, it's a lovely mess again. I tidied up at the beginning of the week but it's Wednesday now and a mess again. I should have cheated and taken a nice 'clean' picture on Monday. The box I keep beneath the desk (nicely out of sight) was full of scrap pieces of paper, so I dragged it up to the desk and pulled out the Big Shot and die cut some things. That's what I'm in the middle of. I have so much scrap pieces of paper (boxes) so I thought I better use some up. A screw that held the handle on my Big Shot fell out (not sure how!) but I couldn't fix it so had to wait for hubby to come home. Apparently I was using the wrong screwdriver (who knew!). All is well now.

I did finish my first box card. There is a picture in the previous post. It is still sitting on my desk as I have to make the envelope to go with it.

I finally did start a stitching piece to keep me busy at night. I haven't been working on it long. It will be a fairy. I could finally get hold of a Nimue pattern here in the US and gave in as I love the look of them.

Well, I'm off to visit some desks. The men are coming to finish our driveway today - yeah, no more puddles in the mud! Hubby is trying to take Thursday and Friday off. He's been working overtime since about October so it will be a nice break for him. Depending on the weather we might take a drive somewhere.

  1. Hi Sharon! Thank god for hubbies, huh? A screwdriver is a screwdriver - why do they have more than one type? The fairy cross stitch looks promising - they may not have worked on it long, but that would have taken me weeks to get to that stage, I'm sure. Enjoy the beginnings of Spring. zsuzsa #26

  3. Your box card is gorgeous. (I had a look on your previous blog).
And the cross stitch is also beautiful. I love doing cross stitch. I like to sit out on the terrace while the sun is on it (like now) for an hour and do cross stitch.
    Thanks for visiting already,
Happy WOYWW and have a great week

  5. Hi Sharon! Love the cross-stitch. I haven't done any in a long time. Too many goodies, not enough time. LOL Go you on using some scraps. I hope the two of you can take some time this weekend to enjoy time together. Sounds desperately needed. Creative Blessing! Kelly #44

  7. Yay for longer lighter evenings and warmer temperatures..though you never know, it still may yet snow, lol!! I actually got around to sowing some seeds this weekend as well as the other sober of sewing when the weather was bad (and it was!!)
The cross stitch is lovely, I used to do so much but haven't for ages and ages....shame really as its a lovely relaxing craft. I tend to knit or crochet in the evenings now, easier on the old eyes 😃

  8. My handle fell off my Big Shot once too. I had to crawl around an icky restaurant floor to find the screw. So weird how that happened. Good for you for die cutting up all your spare scraps. Pretty stitching piece. You must have good eyesight!!! PJ #54

  10. That desk looks remarkably similar to mine, don't worry, a desk like that shows something is happening. Pleased you got the BigShot back working, nothing worse than a tool which fails to perform. I love your stitching, looks good.
    Thanks for visiting my page.

  16. Sharon, the screwdriver debacle sounds just like something, I would get trapped in! Of course, my hubby would totally use that story to his advantage with all his buddies! LOLOLOL I have a scrap paper stash, that I could craft for days on....I think it hurts to throw those luscious scraps away! LOLOL Beautiful stitching, I haven't stitched in years! Can't wait to see the finished angel! :) Blessings, Felicia #53

  17. Hi there Sharon - veryi ndustrious of you to use your scraps - trouble is then you have to file all the die cuts somewhere!I'm in two minds which I think is best, the scraps drive me mad so I have a cutting session, then I have to make another folder/file for all the die cuts!! You should see my die cut flower collection (and I've still never got the colour/shape I need!) Hey ho, the trials of crafting eh? Thanks for your visit and yeah, where did the beginning of 2016 GO? 18. I LOVE your needlepoint! My wife used to do it, but I don't think I'd have the patience to do it. Blessings!

  19. Good evening oh my I so love your needle point and can not wait to see when it is finished. I also hate when things break mostly cause I never had the tool box as it was always with my husband......so I have a small amount of tools now so I am in away little Mrs. Fix it when needed unless the job is to big. Have a great week Hugs~Anne L#3

  26. Bet there was steam coming off your die cutting machine, you were that busy with it, no wonder the handle fell off!!!!! Good old hubby with the right screwdriver. I'm looking forward to spring too, it's a lovely time of year.
    Your needlepoint is beautiful.

  28. Love your Blue Bigkick. The screw comes loose in the handle of my Cuttlebug, so I just tighten it with the Alan key they supplied with it now and again. All that winding causes them to come loose, I'd commandeer the correct tool for your craft room if I were you so you can keep it sorted. Gorgeous cross stitch too. Thanks for visiting me BJ#49

  30. Hello fellow c-s friend! Your fairy is so adorable. I have a fairy pattern I've been longing to do--but right now, when I have free c-s time, it goes to the dollhouse until I get the room of the month done anyway. Thanks so much for visiting. Sandy Leigh #61
