What a great online community this is! I really appreciate all your words of support, thoughts and prayers for mum. 

There isn't much of an update. She's doing okay. The chest infection is still an issue. The nurse came to take more blood on Monday but couldn't manage to get any so is coming back on Thursday to try again.  She is having a physiotherapist coming tomorrow. Mum seems settled in at sisters. She has been eating sometimes. I have prepared myself for up and down days. Hopefully the up days will be better than the down ones. My sister is happier to be home and have support. I will update as things progress. 

They have had some snow in Ipswich! Usually it doesn't stick around for long, but the temperatures have been low enough that it has stuck around. We've had more snow here too. The temperatures have been low enough that - in just a week - Lake Michigan has already started freezing over. We took a trip on Sunday to see a lighthouse further up the lakeshore. It was so cold and blowy husband sat in the car most of the time!

It was too icy to walk along the pier. We had on our ice thingys but I wouldn't chance it. I was happy enough to get photos from afar. Getting out cleared my head for a little while. 

I did make another card for Mum. Just something little. I'm trying to send one each week that will hopefully cheer her up a little. I did send some flowers to Mum and sister. A group I'm in on Facebook recommended a local flower shop and I'm glad I went with them. I had ordered the flowers to be delivered to Mum's house before sister made the decision to take Mum back to her house. I immediately contacted the flower shop who promptly replied and delivered the flowers to my sister's house. I shall definitely order from them again! The flowers helped cheer both sister and Mum up a little.

Hot and Humid

After a nice few days of reprieve the weather has turned horribly hot and humid again. It was uncomfortably hot last night (about 23c/73C) and I didn't sleep much at all. It felt like I was tossing and turning all night. I was finally glad when everyone had gone to work and I could get out of bed. I just didn't get up any earlier as I hate interrupting their routine. I didn't like anyone interrupting mine while I was getting ready for work so I try to be considerate. Needless to say I haven't got a lot done today. I did go for a walk, but even that was horrible. I was sweating by the time I was done (and not because I'd exerted myself!).

I'm going to do soft shell tacos tonight so I don't have to turn the oven on. I got ready to chop things up and found out the tomatoes I got yesterday are not good on the inside. Not exactly sure what's wrong with them, but yuck. I ended up asking hubby to pick some up on his way home from work.

I did decide to try to find up my living room projects that I had put away before I went to England. I thought perhaps I could sit and do one of those. I found the knitting project - still on needle - but couldn't find the other needle or the pattern. Sigh. I did find them in the end, but it seems to hot to even knit. I got my cross stitch out that I was working on - that was all together - but I've closed the curtains to keep out the sun (gasp!) and can't see to stitch. Instead I'm going to look through a couple magazines I brought back with me and maybe dream of more projects I can do someday!

Here's a card I made for Mum. Her birthday is next week. I left a card and some GC with my sister before I left, but I wanted to send another little homemade card.

It's dull and dreary outside today after a really wet day yesterday. There is mud everywhere. It's the perfect day to stay inside and craft.

I did a little more stamping and colouring and then decided to make an Easter card for Mum. It will be a nice little surprise for her. I was looking for some Easter paper I was sure I had somewhere - purchased for her yearly calendar - but could I find it? Of course not. Is that surprising? My decorative scissors that I lost around Christmas still haven't shown up anywhere. Anyway, I went with a different paper instead. I think it worked out okay. 

My middle son came up yesterday - he usually does on Sundays bringing his washing along with him! He came alone this week. I cooked up Chicken Quesadillas.

They are filled with bright peppers, onion, chicken and spices.

They all like them!
