Foggy Boxing Day

Usually, husband takes the day off work (it's not a holiday here in the US) and we go out somewhere. This year I really couldn't be bothered. Sad, but true. He was glad to have a day at home cleaning up his workspace and I just went for my usual walk. It was really quiet out. I think I saw one person there the whole time I was there. It was really foggy, quite ethereal. The beavers were out for a while.

After my walk I did pop to the shops. Daughter wanted me to see if the Christmas chocolate was on sale as she was going to make up some little party bags for the few older children (of friends) that are coming to Aurora's party. I found some and will take them with us when we go. I was rather lazy this afternoon. I had a bit of the sleepies and almost dozed off a couple of times as I sat in my chair. I hate daytime sleeping as then I have trouble sleeping at night!

Middle son came over a bit later in the day. He was due to work today but unfortunately, just before Christmas, a friend died in a car accident and the funeral was today. He and some of their other friend group met up at the funeral. He seems to be dealing with it okay, but he's still in a bit of shock, I think. He had only been talking to him a day or so before the accident.

Tomorrow is another 'normal' day. Husband and older son are still home. I shall get up in the morning, go for a walk and then I have to go look at another apartment/flat for middle son. We were going to go together, but he has to work and can't take any more time off as he took a day off for the funeral. I am going to go (dragging husband with me) and we're going to either take photos or video chat with son. We need to find somewhere soon!

Some phone photos from my walk

  1. Maybe it was a dull day for you but your photographs brightened mine this morning

  2. I hope the flat-hunting is successful. 'Nothing' days can be very wearying, but you'll soon be on your way, with a one-year-old's birthday party to look forward to.

    1. Ug. I hate flat hunting. If I could give up I would. I am SO excited that it's almost time to see Baby A again. The videos are so funny

  3. I'm sorry for your son's loss of a friend. How sad. I read up to this post, caught up that is. Your grand is walking already, how exciting! I love video chats. They change so fast - grow up too fast too. Your cookies and sausage rolls look good! I like your ornaments too. Beautiful pictures from your walks. I'm still eating....ahaha...left over clean ups.

    1. Thank you. It was a shock for him. He's struggling a little, but having his friends around helped.
I'm so thankful for video chatting. It does make it a more bearable. I think she might recognise me. I hope. I hope doing it often will at least be the beginnings of a nice relationship as she grows older.

  4. Lovely pictures, even if it was foggy.
So sorry to hear about the loss of your son's friend. That must have been a shock to him. I'm glad he has a group of supportive friends. Hope the apartment hunting goes well.
