Still Snowy

Woke up this morning and there was a bit more snow on the roads. I cringed, but husband said the roads weren't that slippery. I made it up the hill but slid a bit as I tried to stop. My car has this brake thing that (as my husband explains it) pumps the brakes automatically as he was taught to do manually when he was learning to drive. It feels really weird but apparently helps you stop. I did manage not to slide through the stop sign. Once I got to the main road it wasn't too bad. By the time I was done with my walk the main roads were good, but our road still wasn't that good.

We're supposed to have a break in the snow for most of the morning tomorrow. I was going to put off going anywhere until Thursday, but we are under another Winter Storm Watch starting at 5pm tomorrow through Friday 1am so I'm going to make sure and get any driving things done tomorrow and perhaps just call Thursday an inside day. As well as snow it's supposed to get windy too, which means blowing snow and pretty bad conditions. No point going outside in that!

We did actually see the sun for a little while this morning, before it turned all cloudy again. I did enjoy seeing it. Got to make the most of it!

I'm tired of it already (just because of the anxiety the state of the roads makes me feel) but even I have to admit that it looks really pretty. There weren't many people around either which makes it feel really peaceful.

With an at-home day on Thursday I plan to work on an ornament I have stitched for Baby A (she turned eleven months old yesterday!!!) and write out what I have for gifts for people and what I have to get. It will also be a good time to pull out some of the books I've decided I am getting rid of. I used to really like at-home days, but now I get a little bit jittery (is that a thing?) if I stay inside all day. I'm so used to getting out for a walk and I'm a creature of habit that it just makes me feel off if I don't get out. I know other people in the family don't understand it.

What do you like to do on an at-home day? Are you stuck in routines?

  1. I like to get out but it's difficult as my husband hates me leaving site. He claims its because he worries about me, but really it's just a control thing. Today inr going out with my youngest son, he's a fire fighter and trained paramedic. So there is nothing for my husband to complain about!

  2. It's hard not to do the things you're accustomed to, but sometimes it's wiser not to.

    1. I'm looking out of the window now and thinking, probably not going out tomorrow!

  3. I heard that MI was going to get a bunch of snow. I think my area is spared. However, I did read that the Great Lakes region should expect a snowy year. When I have an at-home day, I like to have my oven going with all the smells, baking or roasting a chicken. I do have a weekly routine, due to my work and helping home school my granddaughter. However, my husband retired rather early (57) recently and we have been working on a very neglected "honey do" list.

    1. I hope your husband is doing okay and enjoying his retirement. It always sound like you are so busy! I don't bake as much as I used to as there aren't the people around who enjoy the goodies anymore. The snow is already getting me down. I don't like driving in it, but it is pretty to look at. I am planning on getting things checked off my list as long as I don't end up procrastinating.

  4. I know that the snow means icy roads and having shovel, etc., but, your pictures are lovely! This is going to be Baby A's first Christmas, isn't it? How wonderful! I generally walk around the garden (or up and down my driveway) when I am at home and that satisfies me. Most of my days are spent at home and I try to have routines, but, often don't stick to my routines!

    1. It is pretty but tiring also. Yes, it's her first Christmas. So exciting! I need to rediscover the joy of being at home and having in-home days instead of just wanting to go, go, go all the time.
