Sigh

Daughter left this morning. Now the anxiety sets in that her drive will go well. I know she's an adult (23) but still worry about her driving ten hours by herself. I'm sure she'll be all right but I will be happy when I get the call that she's made it to St.Cloud okay.

We had a lovely visit. She got to visit some of her friends again. It was good for her as when she moved she knew no-one and most of the people she works with are married with children so don't get out too much. She got to do lots here with her old friends.

I think Shadow (cat) will be happy to get rid of Shasta (dog). Towards the end of the week he had enough of hiding downstairs or in the kitchen and was growing more adventurous. Every night he would take up his sleeping spot whether Shasta was in the living room or not. One time Shasta got too close before we could stop her and the cat whacked her on her head. I think over time they would have maybe tolerated one another. As it was they mostly stared at one another, sometimes barked and occasionally hissed.

This is daughter and Shasta yesterday when we went over to MIL.

The next couple of days are tidying up, doing neglected housework and trying to get ready for my trip. I fly on Friday so it will be a busy few days! Today I'm catching up on blogs I think and relaxing.

  1. I worry every time anyone of mine is out driving so I am not surprised you will worry about your daughters' ten hour drive.

Have a good week preparing for your flight over here-x-

  2. Sharon, I hope your daughter has a safe journey back. A 10 hour drive is a long drive! I already commented on an earlier post (sorry, I'm late with my commenting) that Shasta and Shadow remind me of the Gingham Dog and Calico Cat in the poem "The Duel" by Eugene Field. The barking and the hissing is just like in the poem! :)

  3. I always worry when my daughter travels on her own and worry until I hear she's safe. Doesn't matter how old they are.

  4. I don't think that parents ever stop worrying about their children, especially when travelling, although I am sure that your daughter will be quite safe! Glad that all went so well with the cat and dog situation, doesn't sound too bad at all!

  5. My daughter and the boys left this morning too, the house is definitely quiet without them but looks like a tornado has hit. We are travelling down to England on Friday too. Hope you have safe travels.

    1. Safe travels to you! The house is definitely quiet today. The cat is soaking it up sleeping where he likes.

  6. We mum's are wired to always worry about our children and while I would never think of driving 10 hours somewhere by myself they think nothing of it. I do think the distance driven in a day is perhaps an American thing.

I wish you well on getting your case packed for travel home and a safe journey. I found after making this trip numerous times you don't need to take that much stuff. Layers are your friend, a waterproof jacket, comfortable shoes and you are good to go. If your mum is like mine was, she does laundry every day! Looking forward to hearing about your holiday and any changes around Ipswich since last year.

    1. I wouldn't drive that far either. She's definitely brave.

I have the packing thing down - I think. The way back is harder especially when I've gone for six weeks as I tend to pick quite a few things up lol
