Days Flying By

The days seem to be flying by. We're all trying to get used to having a new baby in the house. Baby A seems to have gotten her days and nights mixed up! She sleeps pretty well during the day and stays awake a lot at nighttime! Poor daughter is tired and still sore. I'm trying to help as much as I can, keeping an eye on Baby A while daughter showers or sleeps. I think Baby A is having quite a bit of gas too which might be making her a little fussy. I'm sure things will settle down after a while. She also has a bit of a stuffy nose, but the doctor said it was normal. Daughter's husband still has another week off work and he's really a hands-on dad. Obviously as daughter is breast feeding, he can't help with that, but he's helping as much as he can.

Baby A really is delightful though. She moves around a lot even when she's sleeping! She's had her eyes open more the last couple of days and seems to spend time looking around. The dogs are getting used to her, they seem a little startled when she cries. Sasha, the husky, sits by her living room bassinet while she's sleeping and seems quite curious about her. I think daughter and her husband are quite pleased how the dogs are adjusting.

I haven't been out for walks. There has been some snow overnight and I'm sure you all know how I feel about driving in the snow! I have been working on photography projects while I have some spare time and doing a bit of reading. I have a list of photography projects that I want to get done this year. While I'm at daughter's I'm working on organising and labelling my SD cards and re-looking at some older photos. I am missing being out taking photos, but I have been taking quite a few of the baby! It's certainly different for me as I tend to take nature photos.

Yesterday was #1day12pics. It's something A Year with my Camera does and I am trying to do each month with a theme. This month I chose to do 'New Baby'. My daughter and son-in-law understandably want to limit online photos of the baby so the ones I chose for my twelve photos are details. You can't see her face.

Phone Photos - Things That Make Me Smile 6/366

Sierra was so tired out by all the baby happenings she fell asleep with her toy close to her. Made me Smile!

7/366 - The first book finish this year! I was actually a little disappointed in it. I usually like the books by this author, but I found this one a little flat. I was glad to be done with it!

Saturday

Husband and I went out for a little bit this morning. Mostly we drove a little way to our favourite Amish bakery/shop and picked up some goodies. Lol. They have some lovely cheese bread there that I can't resist. We don't go there all the time, but once in a while for a treat.

This afternoon husband and son went out to husband's friend's house. I stayed home. Daughter video chatted with me and shared their progress on the baby's room and her latest garage sale baby purchases. She already has a lot of clothes. She has been going to some really good sales where clothes were 25 cents to 50 cents each. Can't beat that! I haven't bought any clothes. I told her that I will wait to see what they need unless something really catches my eye. Husband and I will be buying the cot and what goes with it. I think she said something about getting one that will eventually turn into a bed, so I think we'll get the bits to go with it. I'd hate for the cot/bed to be discontinued and not being able to find the other bits needed to turn into a bed. Apparently, it doesn't come all together.

Today was the first Saturday of the month and I did my #1Day12pics. This month I decided to take some photos of various bits of stones and sort-of shells that I found recently on beach walks. I like the way this has turned out!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

First Saturday in July

Husband had a few garden things to do first thing this morning (before it got too hot and sticky) so I left him home and just went for a quick walk. As it is the first Saturday of the month I wanted to participate in A Year with my Camera's #1day12pics. I usually pick a theme. I took my macro lens with me and decided to set my theme as 'It's the Little Things'. I didn't last long. It was rather sticky out first thing - over 90% humidity. Ugh.

When I got home, I actually picked up my stitching. I stuck on some Midsomer Murders (I watched them all but I like them!) and did some stitching.

It's been a good day.

We were thinking of going out tomorrow (all three of us) but it's supposed to rain so no go. Husband and I will probably take a short drive in the rain - ha ha.

Here's a collage of my 12 photos I decided to use today

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Monday - Ugh Dentist

Monday plodding around again. I had to go to the dentist this morning to have the permanent crown put on and another filling. Luckily being so busy I only really had yesterday to worry myself about it. I had the earliest appointment they had - 8am - so I didn't have time to think about it before hand either. I managed to get through it. There was a moment or two, but I reminded myself to stay calm and not panic and it worked. I now don't have to go back until October. It's a load off my mind.

After the dentist I went for a walk with my friend and stopped at the shops before coming home. I can't say I was particularly productive today. I had some auctions to box up and get ready to have shipped. Luckily, I am able to have the postman/lady pick them up when they drop off our post. It's really convenient and will save me a trip to the post office.

Tomorrow I am going for an early walk and then I shall pop over to Jane's and start boxing some bits up. I feel very relieved that the sale is done, now it is a matter of boxing up and sorting out the bits left. We are hoping to put the house on the market soon.

This last Saturday was the first of the month which is the day for #1day12pics. I actually managed to complete it. I chose the theme Flora as I was at Jane's house for the sale. I took my camera and managed to pop out at hers to take some photos and some photos in my garden. Mine are mostly the wildflowers (weeds lol).

Saturday Adventure

Well, today didn't quite turn out how I planned. We had decided we were going to take a drive down to Warren Dunes State Park and see how the ice was building up along the shore there. Usually there are really lovely views of ice there in winter. We got almost to where our son lives (which is about 20 miles from the park) and it started to snow. Big, fat flakes of snow. It was pretty but not to drive in. The road was quite covered, so we decided not to go. I checked the weather radar on my phone, and it looked as though as snowstorm was just sitting over that area! We got off the motorway and took a really snow- covered road up the shoreline to where it looked like things were clear. I did get out there - same place as last week lol - took some photos and the sun promptly came out.

As today was the first Saturday of the month I participated in the A Year with my Camera #1Day12pics. You are supposed to take one photo per hour on your day. Usually, I try to do a theme or a portrait of my day, not necessarily one an hour. Today I took my macro lens and my Lego photographer out on our journey and then took some more macro photos when I came home. Here's my twelve.

The big photo on the bottom is a close-up of these absolutely tiny little figures (you can see them in my hand in another photo) and I had them working on a chocolate Hero Creme Egg Twisted. Thought that was fun.

Hope everyone had a good day! I had a lot of fun.

It had to be a phone photo of my Lego set-up outside. Made me smile to take these photos today - it was fun!

What a Crazy Week!

I'm not going into the politics of it but what a crazy week! Things are shutting down left and right and people are shopping like there's no tomorrow. I am definitely not a people person so not being around crowds is fine by me. I'm hoping that will also mean that maybe so many people won't be out and about and things will be quieter. That's one upside for an introvert like me.

Weather wise the week has been blah. There has been sunshine but grey days too. I suppose that's part of spring. I can definitely tell that there is an upshift in the number of brighter days. It does make my mood a little lighter. I was up early again today for another sunrise. I was quite tired yesterday, went to bed early so woke up early and then I started to think about things and - of course - then I couldn't go back to sleep!

I actually remembered to pick up my photos today from the shop so I finished my February pages for my monthly album. I have been meaning to pick up these photos since the beginning of the week and several times have walked into the supermarket meaning to pick them up and walking out without them!

Oh last Saturday I did do my #1day12pics for my online camera club (collage below). On the first Saturday of each month you take 12 photos. It's supposed to be one photo an hour, but these were taken more in two chunks. There are some textures from my walk along the beach on my morning adventure and then from my time sitting in the garden in the afternoon to the moon at night.

I hope everyone had a good week and are staying safe and sane wherever you are in the world! Thanks for all the comments on the last post. Son's progress on heading for his new job is going ahead - so far!
