What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday

This is my first one of the new year. Happy New Year to the deskers! I'm joining up with WOYWW over at Stamping Ground. I wasn't around last week as we were moving daughter from Michigan to Minnesota - over 9 hours drive away. She's all settled now - started her new job Monday - and I'm missing her already! It was REALLY cold in Minnesota (air temp -13F, -25C). Who knew it could get that cold?

Anyway on to my desk. Honestly I haven't been doing too much. I've got a case of the blahs. I think it's a let down of Christmas, spending almost every day for the last month with daughter and suddenly...poof, nothing. I did go up to craft room today and get started pottering around.

I started on a new mini album - made one for Mum and one for daughter at Christmas and they both loved them so I'm determined to put some of my photos in more of them. Also some Unity images stamped out ready to colour.

At Christmas I treated myself to this wonderful 132 lot of coloured pencils. Got a really good deal on a Lightening Deal on Amazon. I only had a small pack before so looking forward to colouring.

While in Minnesota we got to visit a great independent craft store - I was drooling. The shop is wonderful. Crafts Direct. If you ever get near St. Cloud, Minnesota I would recommend a visit. You can see some pics HERE if interested.

I have my monthly lunch get-together today so will be around before and after to visit. Thanks for all who leave comments. I read them all and really appreciate them!

  1. 9 hours drive! That's like the Scottish Highlands from Bristol! Best wishes to your daughter - when I was younger I could easily cope with the excitement of relocation and starting a new job, but now I would find it very stressful. A lovely set of pencils! I have a small set of Prismacolors - they're very soft! Happy WOYWW! zsuzsa #20

  5. Oh heck, we have an 8 hour drive from LA to Phoenix next week, following an 11 hour flight which follows a short one. Then I have a class next morning. Ah well, it is slightly different in the States.
Hope it was not too upsetting saying toodle pip to DD. Just focus on the reunions.
Enjoy those pencils, I have the 150 set and love them - while away the time playing.
Hugs & thanks for visiting me whilst I was out visiting in real life LOL

  8. I can empathize with you, after having a full house over Christmas, even hubby was off work, and now here I am all alone again, with just the 2 fur babies for company! Great time to get out those new pencils and play-just get lost in the fun and the time goes by so fast! Thanks for sharing, Lindart #39

  9. Thanks for visiting. AND a huge thanks for the info on the St Cloud store. I have a cousin up that way I have been wanting to visit. Looks great. BUT will have to wait til spring. Weather here is terrible. ICE, WIND and today SNOW. I am thankful for electricity. I may just get our my coloring accessories and have fun with that a bit later. Have a fun week

  10. I hope you get to play with those nice new pencils! I've only got a small set of Prismacolours. Haven't used them. I tend to play with my Derwent Intense (72) when I need coloured pencils.
Although I like winter (here in Oz), yours sounds very trying :)

  11. Hi there. Glad daughter safely settled but feel for you. My son is about three hours away and I think that is bad enough. Definitely too far away from my grandsons :-) Hope you have lots of visits to her and chances to go in that craft store - looks amazing.
Not on the same scale at all but I have ordered some coloured pencils from Stampin Up - can use water with them as well. Looking forward to playing. Thank you for visiting me - much appreciated. Anne x #18

  12. Isn't that coffee shop in the craft store so fun to find? ( My mama lives a couple hours away from St. Cloud and we did make the trip to go down there and see it all) :) ( had to mail boxes home to my self because, it all was not going to fit in the checked bags)
    Have fun coloring! ~Stacy #40

  13. I think we in the UK forget just what vast distances there are in the USA. Not sure I could cope with a 9 hour journey these days lol!! I love your gorgeous new pencils - what a great gift. Have fun with them! Thank you for your lovely comment and I'm glad you like my embroideries. As for the tooth, I'm really hoping not to have it out and I live in hope that it will settle down again, but in the meantime it's really quite painful...

    Happy WOYWW,

  14. ooooh nothing like new pencils! Makes my fingers itch ... in a good way. When you have a case of the blahs, you should decide what you really fancy doing and just do it - forget what you're telling yourself you should do and just do what makes your heart sing, even if it's only for a little while every day - a little bit of what you fancy does you good! :o) Annie C #21

  15. 9 hours feels so far.. and her starting a new job too.. but you will eventually get used to it.. and technology is great for keeping in touch now. I remember when I moved from home.. it was from Canada to England and my Dad only just knew how to send emails.. phone calls to expensive at the time... but that was 18 years ago.. and now my Mom emails me.. and we can afford to call and get home every few years... so it does work.. it just feels alien for a long time.

    Enjoy your pencils :)

    Have a great week,
