Wow - a Week Has Passed

...since I last posted. I didn't mean it to be so long. I'm plodding through the days and they sort of seem to be blending together.

Mum is still the same. No improvement. My sister is struggling. There seems to be lots of doctor calls and visits from medical professionals, but they don't seem to be communicating much with each other. It is getting very frustrating for my sister. Yesterday it looked as though they would be admitting Mum back into the hospital, but when she got there they decided not to and sent her back home again! Mum isn't eating much or drinking either.

There is some improvement on the communication between my two sisters and Mum. I'm not going into details, but my older sister is now coming so that my sister who is caring for Mum can have a break a few times a week. Also they both talked to Mum and told her that she needs to be more verbal about telling people when she isn't feeling well or what is hurting or what she's having trouble with. Mum is old-fashioned, stiff upper lip and just getting on with it. When she's asked how she's feeling she will just say fine even if she's not. I have to admit I do that too. But right now that's not good for her. They can't help if they don't know what's wrong.

Life is still going on. The days are getting longer. I can't believe we are in March now! The snow is starting to melt and there are hints of some things start to grow. My husband had to clean up some bird seed in the garden. It had fallen on the ground and been buried in snow and now that the snow has melted there is just a mess!

I have blogs to catch up on as I admit that I haven't been on the computer too much. It's a good way to spend a Friday evening.

I shall chalk this week up to a fail on the blogging side of things and start again!

  1. Mornin' Sharon. Today I have two huge sacks of crafting junk getting collected. The space it's left behind is wonderful and I am determined to say 'no thank you' if anyone offers me anything of a crafting nature. I want to create a space that I can enjoy working in without having to sit amongst bags and boxes. If you are out and about early with your camera I'd love to see a photo of a sunrise.A fiery one all reds and golds.

  2. So sorry to hear that your Mum isn't improving. Hope the doctors are able to get things sorted between each other.
Sending some more ((hugs)) to you for strength and hope

  3. So sorry to read about your Mum but so glad that your sisters are communicating their needs which will work better for all. It is so hard been so far away, you remain in my prayers.

  4. Sorry to hear that there is not much improvement in your Mum's condition. But, I'm glad your other sister is coming around to help out your sister. I continue to hope that your Mum will get better soon. Take care, Sharon, and it is perfectly fine to take a week off from blogging.

  5. My mum used to do that - say she was perfectly OK when she obviously wasn't. Then, if one persisted, she would get cross and snappy. Not helpful and it made things very difficult for Dad at times.
Not an easy situation at all and I really sympathise. xx

  6. I'm sorry to hear that there's been no improvement yet in your Mum's health. I think it's a very British trait to just say you're feeling fine when that's not the case at all. I do the same myself. I hope she turns the corner soon and I will continue to keep her in my thoughts.

  7. I sympathize with the "stiff upper lip" syndrome of parents. My FIL did that and nearly lost his life. He wouldn't report precisely on the pain level he was experiencing, then he didn't feel like eating due to the pain, and then he ended up in the hospital. Once he understood "how" to report his pain level, they upped the pain medication and he lived for about 4 more years. Glad to hear there is more communication between family now. Sometimes hard things break down barriers that need to be broken. Good Luck.

  8. Stiff upper lift is that generation. I understand all of this better than I can share as well.
