May 18th WOYWW

Another Wednesday and another What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday joining in with Julia and the gang over at Stamping Ground. It's a great way to travel around the world and visit other desks. It's a lovely group to join with. However this week it is being held by Lunch Lady Jan who is hosting while Julia is out.

This is my desk this week

A portion of my desk. Couldn't show the rest as I am working on ATCs for the swap. I haven't ever made any before. I've done some art journaling but it's been a while. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed playing with paints.

I did finish up this today - a card for my sister's birthday.

There is also my weekly update of my cross stitch. I have (FINALLY) finished the lot of grey I was working on. I got to do some colour and now back to another lot of grey. Someone asked about the grey - there is a lot of (groan) backstitch to do on top of it. I've decided that I don't like working with the metallic either. I was having a lot of trouble with it - finally decided to work with a much bigger needle (one you usually get in freebie kits) instead of the 28 petites I usually work it. That ended up being much easier as the eye is larger and I could thread all the gold/silver through it.

I'm not sure how much I'll get done this week. It is my birthday on Thursday and daughter is coming to spend the day then I will be going back to her place (she lives about 75 miles away) for the night and to spend Friday with her.  Saturday we are going to an art/craft show in Lansing (where she lives). Then on Monday/Tuesday hubby and I are going to visit Sleeping Bear Dunes before heading up to Traverse City. It's going to be a busy and fun weekend!

  1. Hello Sharon. Glad you finished up the birthday card and it looks great and your sister is going to love it. Your desk is looking like someone hard at work being creative and I see so many fun goodies laying around. Glad you finally got the gray done and the cross stitch is stunning. 4. Hello Sharon. What a great birthday card for your sister. That cross stitch is really coming on now - and I can sympathise over the glittery threads - look lovely, but a real pain to work with. I also used to use #28 needles, and had the same issues - so went for a much bigger eye. I still wasn't convinced, but it was certainly much easier!
Well done on the ATCs - glad you enjoyed doing them.
Have a wonderful birthday, and enjoy all your birthday treats!!!
    Take care. God bless.

  6. Hi Sharon, that card for your sister is fab! Great stamps and colour combo. I love your cross stitch too - I have that image as a stamp but haven't tried it out yet. It's realy beautiful. I know what you mean about stitching with metallic thread, it's a pain, but it will be worth it in the end! :o) Annie C #27

  7. I've just been on the Sleeping Bear Dunes website. Looks a beautiful place. Lucky you. I hadn't realised that is's not on the coast but in Michigan on the Lake. Have a lovely time.
Happy birthday for Thursday (tomorrow I assume). Wishing you a great day.
I love the card you made for your sister. I'm sure she'll love it too.
Your cross stitch is coming on nicely. Yes, metal thread is a pain. Good for you that you have made it easier on yourself for using a larger needle. It won't show, just makes life easier.
Thank you for visiting and have a good week.

  15. Hi SharonK. I love seeing the progress on your cross stitch. 'almost' makes me want to get out one of my projects. But with a dog and 2 cats who think they must be in my lap at every opportunity, I'm having enough issues getting the hat/ scarf sets crocheted. I love that card. The cutest use I've seen of the Crazy Birds. Safe travels this weekend. Enjoy your day... and Big Happy Birthday on your day tomorrow. Creative Blessings! Kelly #51

  20. Cool birthday card, Sharon, and your cross stitch is coming on apace! It's lovely seeing it week by week, and noticing how much more you have done. Yet again I haven't touched mine lol! Thank you for your lovely comment and your good wishes about my health. I try not to worry about the possibility of the cancer returning. They all seem very pleased with me which is good. A very happy birthday for tomorrow! We've got 2 tomorrow - my hubby and his twin brother! I shall be 63 at the end of the month - eek!! We are off to the county show to celebrate and just hope it doesn't rain on us. We are sooo relieved to have found Phoebe after having a bad night worrying about her.

    Happy WOYWW,
