WOYWW May 11th

It's Wednesday again and time for What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday over at Stamping Ground with Julia and the gang. I say it every week but this week has really flown by!

I had a nice visit with daughter on Saturday (previous post) and a nice day out at another lighthouse on Sunday (Monday post). Anyway, you're here to see my desk, so here it is.

I always have to have a space to work but the rest of it feels like a mess. Towards the back is a pile where I keep losing my redline tape. Either there is a black hole somewhere or the paper keeps eating it.You can see a few albums I've been working on. Still can't stop making them. I have to decide what to do with them. I was thinking that perhaps later in the year I'd get with MIL and see if she would fancy trying an Etsy shop. Does anyone have one?

I do have a card to make. My sister's birthday is on the 26th of the month. Both my MIL and Mum liked the cards I made for them so I might try another box card. I think for Mum's 80th birthday I might try one of the exploding box card thingys.

I wanted to do her a cross stitch too. Not sure what of, but I have to finish the one I'm working on first. This week has been mostly working on the grey. It's taking FOREVER and it is sort of boring. I don't want to stop working on it though as it would be difficult to pick back up again knowing I have lots of grey left to stitch. I made several mistakes on it and had to pick, restitch and then pick some more. Grrrr...

Hope everyone has a great week. Thanks for visiting and for the comments.

  1. I can see how painstakingly slow it is to complete a cross stitch, which is probably why it wouldn't be a good idea for me to try, given the fact that I have the patience of a squirrel! You're doing great! Opening an Etsy shop sounds like a good idea! I've got one, but I've never put anything in it! You have to pay to list each item, whether it sells or not. One of these days I might try to sell something! Have a great week! zsuzsa #35

  2. You are doing really well, Sharon, with that cross stitch. You'll get there. It really is coming on fine. Well done. Trust you get all the cards made which you need to.
    Take care. God bless.

  4. Hi Sharon, the cross stitch is looking good, I can imagine though a huge area of one colour might drive you a little nuts. Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #11 xx

  7. Hi Sharon. I love your cross stitch and yes working with one colour can be boring I use to do plastic canvas back in the day. Your desk looks like you have been playing and yup mini albums do start to pile up fast I gave lots of the ones I made away for gifts still have to post them up on my blog......just need more time in the day. Thanks for visiting my blog earlier and the nice comment you left. This is also the first time ever making ATC cards to not easy working on a tiny scale. Lol Have a splendid week Hugs ~Anne L #9 also hope your parcel gets there soon feels like forever with the mail.

  8. Wow! Your cross stitch is coming on! Yes, I know what you mean by boring. But once you've done that it will be great going back to the colours.
I haven't got an Etsy shop but I used to sell a lot on Ebay where you have to pay a small percentage for each item. It's the risk you take. Make sure your items are beautiful, nicely photographed, that the price and the postage is clear (pack it provisionally and weigh it, then look up the postage) Then sit back and be excited!
I also used to include a piece of paper, prettily printed, with something like: "Your parcel has arrived! I have made it and packed it with care. But if for some reason you are not satisfied, please contact me at such & such email address".
    I wish you success,
    Happy WOYWW,

  10. I love the cross stitch you're working on....used to do lots years ago but alas I have too many other crafty creations going on in my life to have the time for it now.
I've added your name to my ATC list...thanks for asking to swap with me.

  11. Your cross stitch project is really beautiful! I don't have the patience to do it and admire everybody who does.
As you visited my desk already you saw that my space to work on is quite small, lol!!

  12. I'm sure an exploding box thingy card would be well received! Lol, they're very clever and I always marvel at how they could possibly made, I wouldn't have a clue 😃
The cross stitch is coming along well but unpicking must have been a nightmare! I've got to undo a couple of seams on something I'm making and am putting it off!

  16. Your cross stitch panel is coming along but I hate unpicking stuff too. I understand about not wanting to leave it and then come back to it I once did that and it took me about two years to get back into it. Thanks for the visit to mine and wishing you a great woyww, Angela x23

  19. I don't have an Etsy shop, because I just do it all to give. If I start selling it, it won't be fun anymore! LOL I should start crossstitching again. I love to do it. I think I have a black hole, here, too! Thanks for your earlier visit. #43

  23. I find the largest of tables often have the smallest amount of working space left once we get out all our stuff! Thanks for popping by my blog yesterday Sharon - I'm not really at all organised ... just this year have managed to fulfil the promise to myself to get ahead with my cards, hopefully to save the stress in the lead up to Christmas so I can enjoy any crafting I do around that time rather than have it become a chore and a race against the clock. All my cards for this year are done too so I have lots of lovely time to just craft and do arty stuff ... bliss! Love cross-stitching too but don't do as much these days ... hard to work on beautiful fabric with very inky fingers. Love to you, Debbie xXx

  25. Your cross stitch is beautiful and coming along really well, but I do know how boring doing the backgrounds can be - I have two tapestry cushion covers that have needed just the plain background doing for over 15 years! So whatever you do, don't put it down and leave it!!
Hope you have a great week,

  30. You are making excellent progress with your cross-stitch, Sharon - keep at it and you'll soon get through the boring bit! I wish I could say I was making as good progress on mine but I haven't touched it. We've been so busy and now this week, when it's quiet, I'm too tired, and recovering from all my busy-ness! Thank you for your comment. So glad you like the kitty castle, which my hubby is taking over to its new home tomorrow - hope the new little kitties will enjoy playing with it as much as ours did when they were small. Beatrice sounds a bit like your kitty, not playing when we are watching lol!!

    Happy belated WOYWW,

  31. I've never tried cross stitich altho have been working on a hooked rug forever. A busy desk is a creative desk!

  32. You have been busy! I have several mini albums pinned that I want to try. I've heard explosion cards are much easier than they look - especially once you get past the first one. You may find a new addiction. ;-) Cross stitch is coming along. Go you for plugging (or picking) along on that grey. You can do it! Thanks for the visit. Creative Blessings! Kelly #42

  33. The cross stitch is nice and I know what you mean about the boring parts-you just have to keep going because you know it will look fabulous once finished.
The exploding box.....only ever made one once, they do look amazing though.
Thanks for visiting my desk already

  35. Hi, Sharon, thanks for your WOYWW visit that I'm bit late in returning! Your cross-stitch looks lovely, but I can see where that grey would get tedious. You'll be so happy once you get through it! Happy WOYWW! ~ Laura
