Tahquamenon Falls in Autumn

In the Upper Peninsula of Michigan one of the great wonders to see are the Tahquamenon Falls. There is a lower set of falls and upper set. These are in State Parks. To enter any state park in Michigan all you need to do is pay $11 a year for a sticker for your car (if you're a resident of Michigan). We take a lot of walks in the parks and there are some really glorious sights. We've seen the falls quite a few times, but never in Autumn. Some of the falls can easily be seen by just walking, others are viewed by going down a lot of stairs. It is well worth the stairs though!

It was really beautiful. Next spring we want to be able to do the hike between the two falls. It is a 4 mile trip (if you can't walk back there is a shuttle!) but apparently it is hilly and tree root covered. We are determined to do it though. There's a campsite at the lower falls so we're planning on camping and then walking.

We did take a walk along part of one of the trails. Autumn could be seen everywhere!

Of course there was lots of fungus around!

And lots of beautiful views as we drove along.

I can't wait to go back next year!

    1. I was thinking along a picture quilt though I've never made one before. I'm still thinking about how to do the views I saw in Scotland!

  2. Wow, Sharon, those are gorgeous photos! We bypassed this fall in August as we were on our way to Porcupine mountain and many falls there. It will have to be a stop for us next year for sure.
