Brrrr...it's Cold

It's another cold day but for some reason today I'm really having trouble getting warm. I've turned the heat up, got my blanket on and I still can't get warm. Grrr…. I thought about getting in the bath, but that will have to wait as husband came home and took a shower and then son got home from working and ran a bath to warm up himself! If I'm still not warm later, after the water heats up again I might take one anyway.

I did get out for a walk today. I went over to the park. There weren't many geese around, only a couple who have trouble flying. I felt so bad for them. The stream/pond had mostly frozen over and they were sitting on the ice. I had taken some bird food (cracked corn) with me so gave them some of that. Later I found a few ducks on another part of the stream that wasn't quite as frozen and gave them some of the food too. I think it was too cold for even the squirrels as I didn't see any at all!

I admit today to spending far too much time reading. I got caught up in a really good book and had trouble putting it down enough so that I only did the basics. It was a book I'd picked up at the library bookshop and hadn't read as I wasn't quite sure I would like it (although at some point I must have liked the synopsis as I bought it!). As I'm determined to get through some of my book stash I had put it in my pile-to-read-soon. What an unexpected delight! The only problem now is that I want to read the others in the series.

I don't think I've read this author before but I really enjoyed this book!

There were lots of birds in the garden again eating a lot. We're supposed to get lots of different weather over the next 24 hours - rain, snow and freezing rain. Lovely!

Thanks for all the comments! I really appreciate them. If you leave a comment and have a blog please let me know so that I can check out your blog too.

  1. I don't understand how it is possible to spend too much time reading! It's that time of year ... cuddle up in the warm with a good book and don't feel guilty.

  2. I hope you are able to warm up! Maybe a hot drink might help? Or, if you have an electric blanket...

It's good to get lost in a book, every now and then, isn't it? So easy to lose track of time when one is reading (or knitting, or being on the computer!).

The poor geese. I hope they make it OK. Lovely photo of the bird. He's all fluffed up due to the cold!

You are having quite a bit of weather! Stay warm and dry!

    1. I know! I love a nice bath to warm me up. It's usually how I warm up when I'm like that.

  5. We are supposed to get all kinds of winter weather. Pulling out every trick. I hate to have such -negative digits! I have electric heating pet pads in the barn for the cats. Jacket for the old horse. I also added extra hay for the chickens. Put on exta socks...(smile).

  6. I do hope you're not going down with a virus of some sort and that you warmed up quickly. Feeling cold is miserable.

    1. Mum said it had been cold. It makes the days quite long for her as she doesn't get out so much.

  8. Hope you managed to get warm, maybe a hot water bottle would help. The inds here make everything feel so much colder than it really is.

    1. I really need to buy one! I ended up wearing my gloves that had hand warmers in them and that helped a little!

  9. It's not too cold here today. I wouldn't go out without a coat though.
No sign yet of the horrible rain/sleet/snow we got yesterday afternoon. I am only interested in snow if it is deep and crisp and even....lol.
I wouldn't feel guilty about sitting reading. I may well be doing the same tomorrow as I have just started the latest Angela Marsons and it's looking good.
