It didn't rain yesterday. We decided to take a trip a little bit up north to one of our favourite state parks and take a walk along the beach. It was lovely and peaceful. I really enjoyed it. On our way (in the same town) we stopped at a park by Lake Michigan we have been to before. The parking there has always been free. It isn't any longer - at least until September 15th. After that it is free. It was irritating as the parking was only available as a full day park. $10! I don't mind paying a few dollars for a couple of hours but we were only planning a quick trip along the pier. Parking prices set for 9am to 9pm. We got there at 8.30 so we had a quick walk there but were back at our car just before 9am. We won't be going back until September 15th lol. I understand that the money is used for parks, but, as I said, I wish they would allow for an hour or so of parking. Another park we visit started out doing the whole day, but then added hourly parking too. I am hoping maybe this park will follow.

The state park has a yearly visitors pass. There are 103 parks in Michigan. We get a pass for our car each year. It's only $12 - a bargain in my opinion as you can visit any of the parks.

Things That Make Me Smile Day 233

So beautiful. It was amazing as there was hardly anyone there! The beach was lovely and sandy. We even had a paddle in the lake. The water was a little colder than I thought lol.

Today was quite a productive day. I was pleased with what I got done. It was quite a foggy morning. I went for my morning walk and then came home, did my jobs and then went back up into the craft room. I actually did a couple of small projects. It is helping that there is room on the desk! I still have lots of sorting to do. I am going to do some more tomorrow. I also cleaned and washed out the bottom of the fridge and wiped down some walls in the kitchen.

I know it's not nice for husband who is working long days this week Mon-Thur - four ten-hour days so he can have Friday off without using holiday pay but at least for today it helped me seem as though I could get things done as I had more time. The only thing was son was back on eight-hour days (from the nine-hour days he's been working for months) so was home earlier.

Tomorrow will be a walk in the morning, craft room sorting, putting a couple of items up on Ebay and dropping off three sold items (Ebay) at the post office. I've got to check how many books I am letting go this month as it is coming to the end of the month so I want to make sure I have got rid of as many as I hoped!

It was very foggy this morning. I was hoping for a lovely foggy sunrise, but it wasn't to be. The fog was quite peaceful though and beautiful even though it was cloudy.

  1. Your photos are pretty, very atmospheric. You enjoy Lake Michigan too, I grew up across the mighty lake from you, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, and our home was on the cliff above the lake.

  2. Loving the foggy photo.
That's an awful lot of money to spend for car parking. I don't know what that is in 'real' money (sorry!!!) but it can't be that much different. Ouch!

    1. It's probably about nine pounds. Seems a lot to me! I wasn't going to spend that much on a quick walk on the beach lol

  3. Glad it didn't rain and you were able to get in your trip on Sunday; I suppose 8:30 a.m. on a Sunday is rather early for people to be out and about and that's why you didn't see many people at the beach! I remember a time when I used to work 10 hour days, 4 days a week, and have a day off. I didn't mind the long hours at work, but, it did make the evenings at home rather short, once you added the hour long commute each way, etc.
Sounds like you had a very productive day on Monday! Well done on getting some crafting done!

    1. Thanks. Husband is pretty tired when he gets home and gets up early in the morning so goes to bed pretty early too lol. He ended up working 14 hours today (he had to go out of town for a job) so won't work so much the next couple of days.
