Got up early this morning and went for a walk. The sun is rising earlier, so I'm back to a really early walk for a little while. I ran a couple of errands. Husband needed a couple of things from The Dollar Tree. I didn't last long out. It seems that now it is November everybody is shopping! The shops were busy and crazy and I just didn't seem to have the patience. I felt a little anxious so cut things short. I did manage to get the bits I needed. I might have to do most of the Christmas shopping online. I would like to shop local, but I don't like crowds or people lol.
Once home I spent a lot of the day listing new auctions. A couple of pieces I checked had bits missing (nothing major but enough that they weren't good enough to sell). I have a box filled ready to go to donation, so I'll have to start another box. I'm hoping to fill up another one within a couple of weeks so they can go to the charity shop. I think tomorrow I am going to start sorting through some more books. I'm struggling with reading lately. The last couple of books I've picked up didn't seem to catch my attention and, rather than struggle with them, I think I shall just donate and move on.
When reading a book that doesn't quite catch your attention do you read on, pushing through, or do you say 'plenty more books on the shelf' and move on? I used to push through, but now that I am trying to sort out my bookshelves I am really tempted to move on.
Tomorrow is another walk - chillier in the morning as it is supposed to be almost freezing - a trip to the post office to drop off a couple of packages, some housework, a goal of 5 listings and a goal of at leave 5 books.
Day 311
Earlier sunrise. I got there before my walking friend and had a lovely while to enjoy the morning peace.
I guess people are shopping for Thanksgiving/ early black Friday deals and Christmas gifts, too.
ReplyDeleteGood question about the books - I used to push through and read, but I am starting to think that if I haven't read it by now/don't enjoy reading it, then, it might be time to donate them!
I think they are shopping early. Probably trying to get some of the bargains. It was especially busy in The Dollar Tree.
DeleteThat was me too with the books but as I am trying to clear the bookshelves I'm rethinking it.
I dislike crowds too so it's rare for me to go into town. I'm not one for wandering around shops and would rather be out in the garden pottering about.
ReplyDeleteI'd rather be out walking and taking photos!
DeleteInteresting question. If it's not working for me, usually I lay it aside (easy with a kindle) and go back to it in a week or so and if it stil doesn't work, I just leave it.
ReplyDeleteSometimes it is just because the ;language isn't very enjoyable, sometimes the plot is too complex or not complex enough for me, sometimes there's just too many characters and it gets a bit muddled in my brain.
I'm in the middle of a second go book at the moment and am enjoying it much more that the first try.
xx
I usually do that with the Kindle. In the past I've been trying to push through and read the books, but there are so many on my shelves I am rethinking it.
DeleteI always used to make myself finish any book I started reading but haven't been doing that for a few years now ... if the storyline doesn't grab my attention, I now give up and choose something else to read. There are too many books to read to stick with the ones that don't interest me.
ReplyDeleteSounds as though that's the way to go! I have so many books and I am trying to clear them off the shelves. I think if I had paid full price for it I might hold on and try reading it, but most of my books I didn't pay a lot for (thankfully!)
DeleteI just figure I would rather move on to another one. Sometimes I do think about the ones I quit and wonder what happened....ahahha...
